Dec 10, 2016 - A number of artists do a thin layer of markers on their #coloringbooks using #copics #tombow or cheap markers. After the layer of markers has completely dried they blend over them using their favorite pencils. The result is often vibrant and amazing. In addition, the use of markers helps with strain on your hands from intensive #coloring. I use Prismacolor pencils. And Derwent Inktense mostly. Also Sharpies, Artist's loft water color pencils, Crayola colored pencils, crayola markers and gel pens. And a lot of my backgrounds are done with acrylic paint. I love doing mixed media. I guess you've gotta just test out different things and see what you like best.
I use both pencil crayons and markers, and agree that markers are a lot more satisfying for colouring books. Pencil crayons blend better, but are also more time consuming, and need a lot of sharpening if you're wanting thick, bright colour.
